@gruber Regarding Apple’s implementation of external purchase links and whether developers will use the system, I recently subscribed to the Fitbod app using a coupon code from @relay.

I couldn’t do this in-app due to Apple payment restrictions, instead I had to go to a website. Perhaps developers will choose to use the new mechanism to implement coupon code purchases from within the app..

It’s also possible some developers will find the system useful so they can “own their users”, allowing for targeted advertising, email, etc.

You summoned? I just heard my handle invoked at the start of the member special. Unfortunately 'unfed' is taken, by me! I agree with Casey that it wouldn't be a good name though. I used to own a consulting company called Unified Computing and we wanted a short domain for internal use, unified.com was taken, but I was able to snag unfed.com. The company is now defunct, but the name remains as my handle and a bunch of us ex-unified folks still use the domain for personal stuff.

BTW, if I had a vote, and I don't, I'd say John should definitely learn Swift and iOS programming; it'd be great for both the show and John's indie career. Starting with a Mastodon app may be a bit much though, maybe a small members-only app would be good. Even something simple, like a countdown to the next live stream, could be fun.

Two days ago the Tennessee senate said priorities for this week included lowering the age of permit-less carry to 18, it's currently 21, and protecting gun manufacturers and sellers from civil lawsuits from victims. Three weeks ago the governor of Tennessee, who supports the permit-less carry law, proposed legislation requiring schools lock all exterior doors when students are present, saying "I don't want to look up months from now and think we should've done more."

The next thing these animals will propose is requiring all teachers carry guns, 'cause, of course, more guns will help.
