The Saudi Arabian government sentences a man to death for his tweets and YouTube.

Given Saudi Arabia is a major investor in Twitter/X, I wonder if we’ll hear from Elon Musk or Linda Yaccarino about how one of their users is being sentenced to death for exercising their free speech rights on their platform by their second largest investor.

Saudi man receives death penalty for posts online, latest case in wide-ranging crackdown on dissent

A Saudi court has sentenced a man to death over his posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, and his activity on YouTube. It's part of a widening crackdown on dissent in the kingdom that’s drawn international criticism. The judgement against Mohammed bin Nasser al-Ghamdi was seen on Wednesday by The Associated Press. A doctoral student and others have faced decadeslong prison sentences over their comments online. These sentences appear to be part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s wider effort to stamp out any defiance in the kingdom as he pursues massive building projects and other diplomatic deals to raise his profile globally.

So far, there have been six people falsely arrested on the basis of facial recognition tech in the US.

You shouldn't be surprised to learn that ALL SIX people were Black. Why are we letting police departments get away with this?? 😡

@madita_ux Visit frequency is a great consideration that I had not factored in. As I think on it more, magic links do seem to make more sense in the context of an app (vs a website) where a login session often persists until the user explicitly logs out. I also wonder if the pattern positively impacts new user signup completion compared to passwords.
@reiver that's a good point. As someone using a password manager with laptop/phone integration, I never type passwords. I'll concede that without that one, magic links make way more sense.
@reiver it’s inconvenient to leave the login page, wait for an email, and finally click a link that opens in another tab. I get that most of these flows come from sites managing credentials themselves, but it sucks for users that use password managers or want separate identities on each site.
Login flows that utilize email "magic links" with no password option are a terrible UX pattern. #Design #UX #UserExperience
