Varusteleka's remote military march, our yearly start for hiking season, civilian rules so 25km and min 10kg pack. This time we started from Turenki and walked mostly along the local esker-lines, trying to find best views and nicest trails. 26km and quite a few steep ascends and descends, magnificent views, even saw a white-tailed sea eagle hunting. Day started cold and there was still snow on the ground from night's storm, but afternoon was already warm and sunny. #hiking #varusteleka

10/🧵: In the end, none of this matters. There is no "meaning of life". Values are a human social construct, and the universe does not give a damn. Only people do.

That means that you are 100% free to choose what matters to you. If you are a good person who wants to do good - and the vast majority of us are - you do not have to justify it.

Because nothing matters, it does not matter if it is naive. Or hopeless. Idealistic. Meaningless. Cringe.

You really can be good just for the hell of it.

Just got notified from the American Astronomical Society that their survey on anticipated impacts of Reflect Orbital (whose business model is "we will beam sunlight down to Earth at night because woo space”; never mind the titanic impacts on circadian rhythms of every living thing on the planet) has really gained traction.
