I am Craig Sicknick, brother of fallen U.S.C.P. Officer Brian Sicknick who died defending the U.S. Capitol from Trump’s insurrectionists. I am an old school blue collar worker with a Masters degree, have met the President and other highly ranked politicians and have developed a hatred for the Republican Party after having supported them at one point in my life.
@QasimRashid I have mixed feelings about this. I am against anything the MAGA crowd wants, but I have to wonder just how much good the Dept. of Education has done over the years as the country was ignorant enough to vote in favor of putting Trump in office again.
@petergleick No, it won’t. Why would it bother when Trump makes sure they can continue to lie, cheat, and steal with no possible repercussions.
@CanadianCrone Take it from a U.S. citizen who is disgusted with the health care system we have in the U.S. Do not give up anything in the way of healthcare, especially at the behest of corporate entities. You will lose your health and possibly your life.
@Strandjunker Why not do both? One family I know has made decades of poor economic choices, mainly because they have to have the latest and greatest of everything yet they barely have the means to keep a roof over their heads. By the same token, the rich continue to gain ground in part, because the latest greatest trinket has more draw than focusing on the basics first.
@dangillmor Sure about that? Libraries still exist as do phones, texting, and gasp! Actually meeting in person! https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/social-media-teen-mental-health-a-parents-guide. Yes, this takes away some of what parents should do, but going by the U.S., this may not be a bad thing. Social media is one of the major reasons we now have Trump as our next president.
@randahl I am actually of the mindset that I am hoping Trump does as much damage as possible, as quickly as he can. This will hurt everyone, but it will take such bad times to make people realize just how stupid choosing Trump as President was. Unfortunately, it will take both hard times and the violence that often goes with it to be able to try to recover from Trump 2.0, if it is even possible. I am approaching retirement and I am actively looking to leave the U.S. now if I can.

I have some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is, Trump will now put a 25 percent tariff on all goods imported from Mexico.

The good news is, MAGA voters are about to learn where their avocados, cars, and computers come from.

@QasimRashid The Washington Post chose a side during the recent election by claiming it was not and quashing the idea of endorsing a candidate. By remaining silent, the paper lost all credibility related to its slogan.
@aral It sounds like the members of the Royal Society should prove themselves and all resign their membership in a once prestigious, now shoddy organization.
Still learning my way around Mastodon. It looks like it has quite a bit of potential, but is disjointed enough that I can see why people shy away.
