I have some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is, Trump will now put a 25 percent tariff on all goods imported from Mexico.

The good news is, MAGA voters are about to learn where their avocados, cars, and computers come from.

@randahl They will also learn that tariff is a tax they must pay if they want an avocado
@jenselbaek @randahl number of maga voters who know what an avocado looks like is low

@randahl Only liberals eat avocados, MAGA eat Big Mac. The Ford F150 pickup truck is favoured by MAGA since it's big enough to properly display the confederate flag and built in Michigan. Trump supporters are too stupid to use computers.

But the new Mexican import duty *will* increase their weekly cocaine spend by 25%. Oh, wait…

@randahl You would think and yet here we are again.
@randahl maga and learn can't coexists on the same sentence. It is an oxymoron, but with no oxygen
@thefwguy @randahl yeah, I was going to say, it probably won't stick. It's like trying to get silly putty to keep its form.

@randahl

Utter stupidity has a name, it is called republicanism…

@randahl Nope. It’ll get pinned on the woke pinko liberal communist immigrant transgenders. Successfully, because that’ll be the only thing echoing through the magaverse.
@js @randahl Dems will naturally rise to the occasion, take the blame for being "too woke", quadruple down on bipartisanship with fascists.
@randahl and their little red hats too
@viralobscurity @randahl those are made in the land of liberty, ccp China, which will have 60% tariff with an additional 10%, so from 55USD to 93.50USD for the official cap...

@aho @randahl I remember reading that the original maga hats were outsourced to mexico because labour was cheaper after rejecting a californian bid and there were some issues with some Mexican workers not wanting to make the hats

Trump has everything else made in China so why not the hats?

@viralobscurity @randahl I just remember the china story, but fact checks seems to indicate that the orange mans homepage may sell US made caps, even if the fabric can vary quite a lot, which could indicate that they are produced in different countries, but falsely labeled (laws don't apply to orange men).

@aho @randahl just like his "Swiss" watches

"SomWhere Inside chineSe Society"

Will the States have a functional chipset foundry in time for the sanctions to hit? Ah who am I kidding, they would have one already if it was somehow economically viable

@randahl Yeah, this is beyond ridiculous. I just took a delivery of microprocessors today. COO=Mexico.

What he's doing is raising taxes without saying he's raising taxes. Tariffs are nothing but taxes ON US. But the rubes that voted for him don't understand how any of that works.

@randahl "Why has the construction cost of my new McMansion suddenly doubled?"

@randahl

MAGA voters will also be required to contribute financially to the GOP political machine & graft

For example, Kentucky distilleries know how to grease the palms of Senators ...ahem...fund the campaigns of McConnell & Rand Paul in exchange for tariff relief

Welcome to the club & bend the knee

Public corruption is very MAGA

From motorcycles to HVAC, the GOP extorts "donations" in exchange for tariff exemptions

The Whiskey Industry Is Bracing for a Trade War if Trump Wins. It’s Not Alone.

Business owners and foreign governments are preparing for high tariffs and trade disruptions, depending on the outcome of the election.

The New York Times
@randahl don't we have a thing called NAFTA that prohibits such dumbass actions? Elect a stable genius...expect dumbass actions.
@randahl
Has anyone explained tarriffs to the Trumpletilskin yet? I don't think he understands that concept one bit.
Maybe he's been shooting up bleach again.

@randahl
"It's all the woke Democrats' fault!1!!11!! 😩

Exporters from China, Canada and Mexico should definitely not budge on prices. The US consumers want/need their products so they will have to pay more.

On top of that every country Trump puts tariffs on should just turn around and do their parts of their business elsewhere.

@randahl do not overestimate the MAGA brains. They usually do not logically connect even the most straightforward inputs. They are just hard-wired to blame it on the "libs" all the time.

@randahl The good news is Maga importers can apply for exemptions from the tariffs, for a fee.

"Trump imposed significant tariffs during his first term, and many businesses applied for exemptions. Who got them? "

@randahl I am actually of the mindset that I am hoping Trump does as much damage as possible, as quickly as he can. This will hurt everyone, but it will take such bad times to make people realize just how stupid choosing Trump as President was. Unfortunately, it will take both hard times and the violence that often goes with it to be able to try to recover from Trump 2.0, if it is even possible. I am approaching retirement and I am actively looking to leave the U.S. now if I can.

@randahl

Not really relevant, but considering most USA auto manufacturing has been outsourced to Mexico, there is a very good chance someone named Jesus really DID build your hotrod
