(Jan. 12, 2025) 60+ year-old man living in #Idaho, USA. I am political in nature but try not to bore followers with every issue I believe is important.

I read books ... fiction only. I'm into legal, spy, and crime thrillers. I also tolerate political thrillers as long as they aren't crazy right-wing in nature.

I'm also on PixelFed (Instagram replacement) at https://pixelfed.social/i/web or @TimBondy

Email is the cockroach of the internet - it outlives every wave trying to kill it. Forget Slack, forget Discord, forget chat apps. Email is universal, decentralized, and asynchronous. It's not sexy, but it's the ultimate survivor.
Yup. Thatโ€™s the one.

Interesting history of the smallpox vaccine. The US hasn't had a reported case of smallpox in 2024 nor 2025. Maybe our founding fathers knew something our current regime in the US refuses to believe and understand.

But, sure, vaccines don't work or are a health hazard, right?

Thomas Jefferson Conducted Early Smallpox Vaccine Trials

When an English doctor discovered a safer kind of immunity, someone had to spread the word to America

It took me 9 days to finish reading "Among the Wicked" (2016) by Linda Castillo. I gave the book a 4-Star Rating. The book was well written, with very good character and story development. The book is about what happens to a police chief in Ohio who accepted an uncover assignment in an Amish town in New York, where unusual activity is occurring. This is the 8th book in the "Kate Burkholder" series.
It was an enjoyable book to read.

#idaho is ending pool inspections, and that doesn't seem very wise. I won't be swimming in any public pools in the future, even though two brand-new pools will be opening in my town in the next year or so.

Idaho public pool inspections are about to end. Nearly every Idaho legislator said yes to that

A well written book, even if the story doesnโ€™t really interest me, is a much better read than a less than well written book with a story line that is interesting.

So far, Among the Wicked (2016) by Linda Castillo, is a well written book.

Sea level trends map from NOAA. Maybe this data will interest some people. Maybe it will enrage some people. Maybe some people already understood this.

Science is weird in that it doesn't care if you like it or not.

New to gravel biking, sorta. In any case, I get a Google Alert email every week highlighting news stories about gravel biking that Google finds for me.

A vast majority of the articles are centered around Scottish gravel biking.

I'm just wondering if gravel biking is huge in Scotland? Serious question ... seriously.
