@trib That's fair. My focus on making devices "smart" is mostly to remind me when I've forgotten to do something, and uplifting existing technology so it can either report its state or do the thing on my behalf.

Less e-waste, more purpose-specific augmentation.

"Smartifying" a device is the process of taking a basic appliance, and adding functionality to integrate it into a Smart Home environment. In this article we'll look through the process of smartifying a rice cooker just by adding a smart plug, and modelling its state in Home Assistant.

Taking a walk through Oakland's suburbs, there are so many political lawn signs, but I didn't expect them to be so anti-pot.

Every second sign says "Stay Off the Grass".

They're only "Turkish Delights" if they originate from Türkiye.

Otherwise they're just "Sparkling Joy".
