People don't understand the Republican goal for the last 90 years or so. That goal was to erase Franklin D. Roosevelt's new deal completely. They want Social Security gone, they believe workers have no right to retire, and all they have to do is refuse to raise the cap on top earnings subject to Social Security taxes by the amount of inflation, and it stops working.

We made people slaves to corporations for medical care. Voting isn't an absolute right. Women have never had equal rights. The list is long.

@mhoye I'll call bullshit on the renewable energy propaganda. Without mass long term storage like dual reservoir pumped hydroelectic or massive skyscraper sized battery arrays, renewables are ephemeral. They don't produce energy on demand, they produce it unreliably.

UNTIL that storage is constructed and deployed, and renewables can schedule power like regular hydro, natural gas, coal and nuclear, renewables cannot replace scheduled power generation. End of story.

@Lana 1/2 The problem is lies ARE protected speech. Unless the specific lie is addressed through laws. Libel and fraud are very specific crimes. And even when the conditions of lying being illegal are met, enforcing your legal rights requires deep pockets and a lawyer.
