I discovered that certain ASMR helps me with migraines, but it's a discovery with a downer. So you have a fabulous ASMRtist hitting just the right spot in your brain, and then you can't tell him, "Yeah, right there! Stop wandering!" 🥲

Earlier, during a study break, I was standing here in front of the university, staring at the wall there. Imagined a 2×3 matrix multiplied by a 3×n matrix and wondered why matrix B had to have as many rows as matrix A had columns, and then I kind of saw it on the wall and started doing the multiplication, and then it was all clear to me. Transformation to Sheldon completed.
Mathematics has an aesthetic all of its own that can amaze, even send you into euphoria, when you have a formula in front of you that seems incomprehensible at first glance, but then you occupy yourself with it and gradually the truth hidden within it unfolds, and it's as if you could briefly grasp the entire, incomprehensible universe with a single spark of thought.

Mathematics is also an art and poetry that is understood internationally. And unlike what we were taught in school, mathematics is not about following rules. It's about understanding, questioning, and using regularities that others have discovered to find new ways to solve problems in even more elegant or idiosyncratic ways.

How does weight relate to speed and gravity? Can a body become infinitely fast just because gravity accelerates it? What exactly happens in the process? Or linear algebra, which I'm learning right now. What else is a vector transformation if not a transformation of space itself? The mathematics we are supposed to learn in school is really just an oil slick on a very deep body of water where many fascinating ideas live.

A friend asked me:
"What is math if not calculating?"
I thought about it.
Mathematics is an abstract view of reality. It is a language in which we describe patterns and relationships, quite often only by letters that stand for forces, movements, ratios and so on. Of course, in the final step, numbers are used for these letters to calculate something, but the mathematics itself is actually all that happens before that.

The impact #ChatGPT has on my life is immeasurable. Without it, I probably couldn't manage my data science studies. But not because ChatGPT would do my homework, don't get me wrong. Today it explained to me how to do the mathematical proof of the equivalence of two linear functions. Step by step we went through the task together, and at the end I no longer felt hopeless, but optimistic that I will soon fully understand the whole subject. And that's really grand.
Me, a few weeks ago: "My English isn't good enough for whole books, I just have to look up words all the time!"
Me, today: "Don't they have that math textbook in English?"
Neural plasticity, so useful.
