Saw Green Day for the seventh time on Friday at Oracle Park. Fantastic show. It was amazing seeing Dookie and American Idiot both played in their entirety, especially since Friday was the 20th anniversary of American Idiot's release.
Just arrived and I can't wait to sit down with it. I heard about this book and pre-ordered it because the author @christopher_brown is here on Mastodon.
Today I learned a little bit about #quantum #tunneling as it facilitates #nuclear #fusion within the #sun, which evidently is NOT HOT ENOUGH for fusion to occur based on “classical #physics.” Enjoy the rabbit hole!

I hope all the #moms out there had a great #Mother’s Day. Mine came across the country to hang out with her #grandchildren (and me, I guess ;)) for a long weekend. I made her a handdrawn/written #card for the first time in 30+ years. I think she liked it!
A sign that extreme #political positions dominating #congress will no longer be the norm?
Millions of people visit #GrandCanyon #NationalPark every year. I would guess that less than 1% see it from the Colorado River. I’m lucky enough to be in that 99th percentile as of a couple weeks ago. Pic 1: me at the river after a hike down from the rim. Pic 2: a sign I missed on the way down, but related to on the way up. For the record, I knew what I was getting into.

I’ve driven over the Key #bridge dozens (hundreds?) of times and navigated under it dozens. The crazy thing to me is that these #ships are so large now that the mini islands that are built to protect/support the bridge piers clearly had no chance. When this bridge was initially designed, the engineers weren’t planning for this scale. This accident is a tragedy, but hopefully also a warning for bridge #infrastructure managers around the world.

Secondary power/navigation systems/procedures will also get an overhaul. I imagine there will be a lot more tug boats at the ready when these mega-ships are near critical infrastructure in the future. Hindsight makes things seem so simple . . .

It’s a super sad day for #baltimore
