At the grocery store this morning, unidentified person ranting to the cashier: Women should dress more traditional, like they did when I was younger.

Me nodding along and thinking yes, yes please. Although as a Gen Xer, my definition might not match what is in that person's mind.

Language is important.
I'm tired of media euphemisms.
It's not climate skeptic, it's climate denier.
It's not vaccine skeptic, it's anti-vaxxer.
And it's "lies" and "racism" and "genocide" and "war." Words have meaning.

The Autism Epidemic That Never Was

Who Moved my Cheese? Animated Summary | Robert French

Someone moved my cheese! One of the constants in my life is that things change. Last week, I was informed that I would be made redundant. My last day with the company was Friday, 11th April 2025, so I am available for an interview. This situation has both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, I can look for a new role and dig deeper into learning about Power BI also related topics 😍 So, if you require a "Chief Power BI Nerd" or a "Data Shepherd, Data Plumber, Data Dance Teacher," then let's talk. Or if you're looking for a Plain Vanilla Senior BI consultant/engineer, I am worth speaking to. My passion is Data and anything related to it. Can I recommend the book Who Moved My Cheese? This short video is an excellent summary of the central message: https://lnkd.in/enTJpMvT. The message does not make it any easier to deal with change. For me, it just helps to know that change will happen and bring new opportunities, as it has in the past then will continue to do so in the future. 😁

Turnabout is fair play.

I left Spotify in 2021 and started listening to my own music collection. I already had the MP3s and/or the CDs from which to rip them, so I hosted them on my Plex server and started listening to them using the excellent Plexamp mobile client.

One thing I missed from Spotify was the "wrapped" listening summary... but I'd always believed I could improve on what Spotify delivered. This winter break I spent some time implementing a solution in Microsoft Fabric. I used data from my Plex server's SQLite database for recent years, and from the JSON files that Spotify will send you if you make a GDPR data request for older years. I standardized enriched both data sets with the open source MusicBrainz database, and then visualized some Spotify-inspired vanity metrics in Power BI.

Myself and my partner have been watching it get lighter for about 1.5 hours. Now the sun is just peeking round the shoulder of Eval (the hill in the background)

@billinkc Did you write that alt text yourself? Lovingly described... just a work of art! πŸ§‘β€πŸ³

My wife absolutely adores Cyndi Lauper. She's had "girls just want to have fun" as her ring tone for as long as phones could have custom ringtones!

@QuantumDot2 I did and thank you for reading them. Felt like I was spending way too much time on the #altText but I wanted people to know how wonderful the icons of the 80s were.
Clearly, your wife has excellent taste in music and husbands

@billinkc Your altText was #NoContextTrek level! Certainly appreciate and h/t the workmanship involved.

And what an amazing selection of stylish 80s dressers.

I told my wife Big Hair was back in vogue again a few weeks ago, and she got excited. One can hope, right? #80s
