You’d only reach for the heavy distros with intention. Like you’re going to build production value deep water or hair simulation with a program like Houdini and explicitly built a multi core computer to do so.

Anything else : just install some free blender and you’re good.

@NatureMC @itsfoss if it makes it easier: mint or Ubuntu are easy, emulate smart phones, nice big icons with easy ways to install from an app with minimal terminal commands. Chances are if you used windows for gaming, as a media center, doing spreadsheets or using social apps this will serve just fine.

It’s not until you want to start building a high end computer to run simulations with specialized software that you would even look at something heavy like a fedora plasma setup.
