Talking Head. Typing Hand. Midwestern nerd. Full of corn. Fully of corny jokes...Hey, hi how ya dern? 👋 ✊ Mostly here for #nerd stuff, #Linux, [sometimes] #Mac, #FOSS, #art, #music, #digitalprivacy, #onlinesecurity, #decentralized media, #humanrights and the occasional LOL.
What creepy nonsense are companies up to when they try to guess your age or take your ID for age verification? https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/01/so-youve-hit-age-gate-what-now
So, You’ve Hit an Age Gate. What Now?

EFF is against age gating and age verification mandates, and we hope we’ll win in getting existing ones overturned and new ones prevented. But mandates are already in effect, and every day many people are asked to verify their age across the web, despite prominent cases of sensitive data getting leaked in the process.

This old B is tired, boss. Bone tired.

Job search has me in the vapours.

I cast this very powerful spell of unyielding genital lice over the leads at #Indeed + #Glassdoor. (ROLLS 19 🎲)

...for requiring a linking of Indeed and Glassdoor accounts AND requiring adding a phone number to even decades-old, established accounts (NOT VOIP, real mobile only) AND require a resume upload to view/browse.

Well here is a little piece my [private] resume upload. I sincerely hope their leadership gets those crabs.

CANADIANs ...

If you have not come across this effort yet, or have not reviewed and signed on ... please take a moment and do so.

Bill C22 is as bad if not worse than it's predecessor attempt C-2, and the earlier implemented C-18 which had the exact opposite effect on Canadian online media presence than everyone (well, everyone but us already-federated folk) thought.

Consider that Signal Messenger has indicated it will withdraw access from us rather than compromise privacy. it's bad.

The Onion is just on a roll lately.

You REALLY should remove the tracking codes from Youtube links now.

They started showing a popup about who sent the link and offering a (maybe new) DM feature, potentially revealing your personal account name to anyone who opens the link.

This is critical, because web history disappears when it can’t be preserved. 🕸️📚
