Today I found out that 3 friends I've known for over 20 years all passed, one last week, one in November, and one in June. As one might expect, they hadn't been a huge part of my life in a while, but even so it feels an emptier colder world tonight. Rest in piece mp, mf, rw <3
Well this changes the tone

Every AI company knows they're building the wrong thing.

And they can't stop.

Because the competitive structure specifically punishes anyone who slows down long enough to build the right thing.

The race is real. The destination is fake.

Everyone in AI is building the wrong thing for the same reason

Every AI founder I talk to is on an accelerating treadmill, burdened by a nagging suspicion that the entire industry is moving too fast in a direction that doesn't quite make sense, with no idea about how to get off. There is an overwhelming feeling that if everyone stopped and

Westenberg.
Finished metroid prime 4. Fun game, a bit short since I don't have interest in hard mode after the ending.
Finished Pokemon ZA, except for getting the shiny charm, after discovering I need 525 more battles to complete _everything_ so I give up. The game was interesting, but ultimately not fun.

Finally dragged myself to finish Dust this week so I didn't bring that energy into 2026. More of the pointless and abrupt death for no reason, but at least it ended on a positive note.

I thought until I read the short stories at the end of the book. What an absolutely terrible way to end the series. Just destructive and awful for no good reason and completely undermines the entire point of the series.

Finally finished ffx-2 and managed to screw up somewhere and only got 99.9%. So incredibly frustrated that after over 90 hours of annoying gameplay I had to watch the final cutscene on YouTube. Definitely not going back for it.
