People have a right to be highly skeptical of #Threads. I am too.
I gotta say though, this is a good interview. Adam Mosseri is saying all the right things. Of course, talk is cheap. But after a months-long wave of other major social media leaders sounding like fucking asshats, hearing something that *seems* reasonable is…well, a breath of fresh air.
There are, granted, plenty of reasons to be wary or resentful of #threads but let's frame it like this:
A mainstream platform integrating with ActivityPub giving us all a conscious choice to follow the people we know and love on said platform is important. Many journalists, public figures, corporate entities, etc. that avoided a jump to Mastodon due to reach, difficulty of onboarding, or fragmented governance now finally have a place to go where we can actually see their work.
Happy Fourth. Believe it could be better, demand that it get better.

America was founded on the promise of freedom and equal rights for all.
In reality, this has always been unevenly applied. Freedom is a constant battle, and everyone’s rights are FAR from equal.
The most American thing we can do is to keep pushing hard for freedom, liberty, and truly equal rights for EVERYONE.
Just saw a really shit cis take, so I’m just gonna say this plain.
Blocking access to cross-sex hormone treatments is trans genocide. Full stop.
It is as surely genocide as blocking access to thyroid medication, heart medication, or diabetes medication.
“You’ll live, it’ll just be harder” is such a colossally tone deaf response that it produces an inverse waveform that nullifies everything you say after it.
