@DaveMasonDotMe I don't know any for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me with how apps are pushed on us for every service.
I think my bank requires the app for online paper cheque deposits, but that could be more about their back-end and verification rather than disincentivizing online banking.
@DaveMasonDotMe Personally, I use as few apps as possible since they feel redundant to me when (working) websites exist. If a service doesn't have a decent website - or no website at all - I probably won't use it.
That's not always an option for things like banking, which is certainly a problem for FOSS mobile devices currently.
@miss_rodent Things were definitely easier to find before the advent of click-through rates and commodified attention, but I digress. I would personally love to see something like a physical reference book, maybe with some crash courses and other basics, but I haven't found anything specifically.
I know I've seen "complete beginner guides" on search results pages, but I haven't tried them and they may get a bit technical for a newbie.
