The really heartbreaking thing about being a “boss” with a heart… I see the evaluations of others. The same people I interview and see the flaws and red flags.
Honestly I kind of envy the rose goggles by now. It’s nice to see the potential in others. I want to as well.
The reality of seeing their limitations though… like, how do you actually write code without knowing how to type a backslash? (Yes, real story)
Stuff like that viscerally hurts to type into evaluations of others. I wish I could be so kind as to overlook it, but I can’t.
Am I that terrible boss? I hope not, but at times, yes, I probably am, because that’s what’s needed in that moment. It’s not capricious.
My team is an incredibly skilled group of people. I can’t compete with what they combined output every day, though I’d probably outclass any one member of my team on an average day. Not any day, just on average.
It kills me in so many ways though… when did this anti-capitalist… become someone else’s boss? Better someone like me I guess?
The new #UruseiYatsuya is really well done, and the current sub-plot is no exception.
I had forgotten just how deep the love-hate relationship between #Lum and #Ataru went, but the latest episode puts it on full display.
It may not be that obvious to a westerner why Ataru can’t bring himself to say, even as a lie that he likes/loves Lum, even when the fate of the world is on his shoulders. Ataru is so wrapped up in his own emotions for Lum that the opposite thing comes out. It’s that very childlike side of him that pokes fun at her to mask that he’s actually quite taken by her, a fact which leaks out from time to time, so he over-compensates.
This way of thinking may be foreign to anyone younger than 30, and most younger than 50, but I swear, Ataru reminds me of my grandfather, and how he expressed his affection by insulting us grandkids, with the most mischievous smile on his face.
Trying something new. I’ve heard it’s a really greasy ramen that’s particular to Chiba.
This is from a shop called Naritake.
Chiba is ringing like a bell recently and it’s making me nervous. We’ve had something like a dozen quakes in the past 24 hours, half of them big enough to be noticeable.

Anime has a habit of reminding me that it’s a serious literary business in #Japan and #frieren is no different. The great (and fake) Hero Himmel and Frieren had a discussion about why a hero saves others, and it went really deep really fast.
We see the world after the hero’s quest has ended, as Frieren remembers what she learned from the Hero Himmel, as she goes through it all again, 80 years hence. Her reminiscing on those past events as they relate to her new journey is an intriguing and heartwarming tale on things.
I had resisted watching #komicantcommunicate for the longest time, as while it seemed like an interesting #neurodivergent plot line, it’s yet another high school drama anime. Yuck!
Actually, not so much. You could imagine #komi as a coworker in the office, the girl who has trouble talking to everyone, but is somehow super popular nonetheless. She’s pitiable, but in the way you want to cheer her on.
It’s a heartwarming story with some clever and funny misunderstandings which veer off into suspicions of serial killing. Truely the perfect level of levity.
