It feels strange to finally put the proverbial pen down after almost five years writing a novel. The characters feel alive with fully fledges personalities. It's like I'm blocking a dear friend #writer #writersofmastodon
@PFCOGAN I think we tend to underestimate a reader's ability to comprehend the meaning of words or emotions so we keep adding to the sentence to make *sure* they get it. But readers are smart and it's better to write an easy-to-read sentence than one that doubles down on itself!

@caffeinatedbookdragon @Sheril as someone who is English and has lived in England for my entire life, I agree that it's good that Mastodon isn't America-centric. On Reddit and Twitter (the two social medias I used the most) 90% of the "popular" posts are about American politics. Which, as someone who has absolutely no stake in American politics, is quite boring. Hoping to find more likeminded people here to just chat with. The coffeeshop analogy was very promising!
@Sheril I've only just joined Mastodon, but it already seems a much friendlier place than Twitter. Not to mention Twitter's discovery system is a pain to get noticed and my feed was full of things I didn't want to see!
