Ice in Minneapolis
So this is what it feels like to stand on a hill of fire ants.
They invade. They swarm. They threaten with their pepper spray stings.
Something is wrong with them.
They form convoys and pile upon a single leaf to bring back to their sickly, waxen queen.
I see them everywhere because I’ve seen them everywhere, even when they are not there.
This one H of a human body gulps down her 2 atoms of oxygen to keep the fear and panic at bay.
Then I remember how rain droplets fall upon a windshield, how they merge and meld, how they become rivulets, how the rivulets become streams. I’ve seen the power of a mighty river.
