The more I use iPadOS 26, the more I wish the window traffic lights were just visible all the time in their maximized state. Make it so that I have to design my app around them, sure, but just stop hiding them. They're fine, they make it easier to use, and having to tap them twice every time gets annoying fast
Pythonista Lab has been approved for beta testing by Apple now, and I've sent out the first batch of TestFlight invites. 🥳 Signup is still open: https://pythonista.app/lab 🐍🧪
Pythonista

So here's a very first look at Pythonista Lab – the new app I've been working on for the last 6 months or so…
I've just made this demo entirely on my phone, and it's not super-polished, but I wanted to finally share some progress I've been making. 🐍😊
Oh look, a new icon on my homescreen! 👨‍🔬🐍
Still very much work in progress, but I'll have more to share soon…
I'm no expert in human behavior, but bombarding people with alerts seems counterproductive. Constant permission prompts might just lead to blindly selecting "Allow." More alerts don’t necessarily mean better privacy protection.

If Apple's afraid of eating into Mac sales by putting macOS on iPad, *just* put the Hypervisor and Virtualization frameworks on iPadOS so third parties like Parallels can virtualize Windows 11 or Linux instead. Windows, at least, is much better suited for a touchscreen than macOS is. Let the developer/userbase validate the concept if you won’t — is a virtual desktop good or bad for the iPad platform?

When Apple remembers to make new iPads again (any day now.), one thing I'd really like to see is an end to the baby apps. I don't want a stripped-down, half-assed 'iPad experience’ for anything. It's been fourteen years and I'm so over it. Give me real desktop-class apps across iPadOS and visionOS, feature for feature, that can scale all the way up to power a 5K External Display or spatial computing workstation.

A reorderable toolbar doesn't make for a 'desktop-class app’.

The day you can run macOS in a Hypervisor-based VM on iPad & visionOS, accelerated graphics and native performance included, is the day the ‘future of computing’ begins. We're still just in the experimentation phase, before a true commitment
I’ll take an iPhone with a sliding keyboard like my old and trusty Nokia N95 or the E75.
Congrats on the CVE, @chockenberry Looks like Apple released a macOS update just to patch it 👀
