Ph.D. Candidate (Public History), Carleton University, Ottawa.

My research explores the intersection of Public History, Byzantine Archaeology & Numismatics, and Digital Humanities for the public presentation of medieval Eastern Roman coins. I like coins! Oh...I blog...well, try to.

Some really good news.
A new university will be built in Arviat, Nunavut, on the western shores of Hudson’s Bay, by 2030. It will be by and for Inuit peoples and all to learn the culture and language of the North and for people in the North to obtain post-secondary education in their language.

@ryanrandall @electricarchaeo Love to help and bat around some ideas. I've used Obsidian in three separate courses. Each with varying success and failures. Let's chat.
@electricarchaeo I had the same thing this past week. "I need to pass this course to graduate. Can I get a D-?" despite no work being done at all. So, technically, my student did not 'speedrun' the course as I told them not to. Instead, they did the opposite, just did not start the course. UGH.
@electricarchaeo What chaosmachine is this?
Like many in the last couple of days, I've deleted my academia.edu account in the light of their new terms regarding rights over personal information (the "irrevocable" nature of their claim seems at odds with deleting the account, but as I've not accepted the new terms I trust I've dodged that one). In any case, all my stuff is freely available on my website or university page for anyone who wants it, as well as via hcommons.org.
@joeroe Thank you very much for your thoughts.
@joeroe Thank you very much for your reply. For those students who used it, did they utilize the repository on GitHub maintained by @electricarchaeo (my Ph.D. supervisor, with whom I've discussed this topic extensively) to create a vault? Or did they "wing it" and use varied approaches? Did you recommend the use of any plugins, and if so, what were the results of their use?
Who is using Obsidian.md as a pedagogical tool in their classroom or online, and how are you implementing it? I am using it for my async digital history course, where students will establish a vault as a repository for their research and publish via Mixa plugin. My objective is to get students to focus on process as Digital Public History, something I promote in my dissertation at https://publish.obsidian.md/roguenotes/00+Welcome/01+Rogue+History+Notes
Tell me how you are using Obsidian.md for your research and teaching goals.

@FlintDibble I suggest talking to @electricarchaeo about space archaeology and the International Space Station Archaeology Project (ISSAP) which he has worked on.
