ちなみに今では有名になった『慰安所管理人日記』が書かれた慰安所が表紙の写真。Cairnhill Roadというカルティエやルイヴィトンなどの店が立ち並ぶオーチャード通り、高島屋から、その向かいを五分坂道登るとすぐに見つかるところ。

炭鉱などに朝鮮人労働者が連れられてくるのに相応する形で「アメ」として設置される「接客所」、そこには毎年何千人もの朝鮮人女性が連れてこられた。

I don't know why, but every time I publish something, it feels like I was defeated. Does anyone have that feeling?

Anyway this very ambitious, multi-volume edited book series on the cultural history of youth came out. I wrote a chapter, "Belief and Ideology" in vol. 5, the Age of Empire. I wrote my first draft when I was finishing up my first book manuscript so it took more than 5 years. I have mixed feelings about this personally, but there you go.
