Hi, I'm the Space Quest Historian. I quite like adventure games and being rambly.
For the smut lords, the original Leisure Suit Larry trilogy. Yes, trilogy. You heard me.

Some people lose their shit if you don't show your LucasArts games when sharing #bigboxgames pics, so, alright, here you go.

We're crowdfunding a #vinyl version of #SoupsOn, our cover album of music from The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour. It's going to be a 4x vinyl album and it's going to kick ass! Time to get back to #GameBox A Day! Here's a special treat. Not one, not two, but three versions of the same game. King's Quest IV was released in three different versions: the original 9 disk version that barely fits in its box (which included separate day/night screens for outside locations), the re-released 8 disk version (which just palette swapped the outdoors screens but also had more detailed, redrawn backgrounds), and the AGI version that was recreated entirely in Sierra's earlier game engine that was also used for KQ1, KQ2, and KQ3.

My 9-disk-version is CIB, but my 8-disk version is missing the manual. The AGI version is absolutely battered and is missing a couple of disks but it's still incredible to have this bonkers version on my shelf.

#GameBox 7 is #KingsQuest II for the #Amiga. You may be wondering why I have so many Amiga versions of King's Quest games. It's because I vowed, upon completing my video retrospectives of the series, to collect the worst versions of the games that I could find. And while the Amiga was a great machine, Sierra obviously didn't consider it a great priority, so Sierra games for the Amiga are generally some of the worst you can find. (Also, it made the boxes a lot cheaper.)

This one comes on a single 3½" floppy and also includes the illustrated manual where Graham springs a very inappropriate royal boner over seeing a crying, imprisoned woman in his magic mirror.

#GameBox 6 is #KingsQuest I AGI. This is the version most people are familiar with, and it's the version still being sold today on GOG and Steam. Well, not THIS particular version -- 'cos this one is for the #Amiga.

You may be wondering at this point if I own other games than King's Quest. I do. But strap yourselves in... we're not even halfway through the Daventry gauntlet yet.

#GameBox 5 is #KingsQuest for the #Sega #MasterSystem. This one is interesting in two respects: first that they even bothered making King's Quest for the Master System, which is just a weird idea in and of itself.

And secondly because I got lucky and found a CIB that included the manual. Usually the ones that crop up on eBay lack the manual (and sometimes the box, too). The manual is interesting because it actually gives you some extra hints for the more difficult puzzles, such as the infamous "guess the gnome's name" puzzle.
