@poleguy @armb @rzeta0 @filippo It also adds some financial problems. HSMs aren't cheap. And you need ways to back up the keys securely, which means onto another HSM. Amazon's "CloudHSM" is $1.45/hour, and has the obvious security issue of being a fucking cloud service, if you want opex issues instead of just capex.

@soatok "I'm nothing special. I don't have secret knowledge of how cryptography works. Literally everything I know can be learned by anyone on the Internet." Don't sell yourself short. Your knowledge isn't special, but you write about it well. Even if I haven't learned something from a given post of yours about cryptography itself, I've probably learned a nice way to articulate something I already know. I have dysgraphia, writing isn't my strong point.

And while I don't need you, your opinions, your advice, or your knowledge, nonetheless my life is better for having read your work.

@ojensen @soatok Abusers seek power over others. Politicians have power over others. Not everyone who seeks power is an abuser, but I'd expect CSAM creators to be disproportionately common in positions of power. The Gang of Pædophiles in particular seem willing to systematically shelter & promote them.
