Bacterial geneticist and deputy lead of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Sheffield.

Interested in how Clostridia put together their cell envelope, what the different bits do and how phage get across them

@RobFagan Note also that our employer has decided that if you go on MAB, they will continue to dock your pay, even if you change your mind and come back to work.

, everyone should be paying particular attention to this. Our employer has threatened 100% pay deductions to NON-UNION staff who refuse to take on additional workload at the busiest time of the year

“Lastly, the recently announced decision to pursue 100% deductions from staff who are not themselves participating in the boycott, but refuse to take on additional marking, is punitive, and may have unintended consequences. 10/10”

Looking for a PhD studentship? We have a fully funded @DiMeN_DTP position available in our team @MM_Sheffield studying phage biology and structure. We will use bacterial genetics and cryoEM (with Prof Per Bullough) to understand how phage kill C. difficile. Although some background in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology or structural biology would be useful, you'll receive full training from our groups.

Finally sussed out how to use this platform 🤦🏻‍♀️. Hello brave new world!
The facts of the matter: The latest figures for the Universities pension scheme reveal a £5.6bn SURPLUS. A controversial valuation in 2020 claimed a £14bn deficit - which led to a range of benefit cuts for staff. No wonder university staff are angry, taken for a ride... #UCU #UCURising

if you've ever messed up a dimension or a hole position on something you're building, don't be too hard on yourself.

at least you're not the Cisco design engineer who caused an entire product line recall by placing the mode button (which resets the switch if held) directly above an RJ45 port.

An intact S-layer is advantageous to Clostridioides difficile within the host. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.11.22.517470v1?med=mas
