centre left, republican, I believe in subsidiarity and proportional representation and independence for ScotlandI loathe racism and misogyny. NHS nurse of 46 years now retired. OU history student

Is now the right time to remind people that it was #Mandelson who recommended #Palantir to #Starmer and #Streeting and those contracts on defence and NHS systems were made in a very non-standard executive heavy way…basically no procurement process. Just a couple of highly sensitive data projects handed over to a company run by misogynistic fascists.

Economist Jeffrey Sachs: U.S.-Israeli “War of Choice,” Assault on U.N. Charter Could Lead to WWIII

The global economy has been rocked by the war in the Middle East, with Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz threatening energy flows and sending the price of oil soaring to its highest level in years. The United Nations Security Council responded to the unprovoked U.S.-Israeli war by passing a resolution this week condemning Iran — specifically for its attacks on U.S. allies in the region — while ignoring the role of the Trump administration and the Netanyahu government in instigating the bloodshed. Economist Jeffrey Sachs joins Democracy Now! to discuss the fallout of the “war of choice” and why it also constitutes an assault on the United Nations. “This is so out of control, without any logic, any rationality, not any humane, moral, legal justification whatsoever,” says Sachs. “It will lead to world war the way we’re going, because we have two malignant narcissists, Netanyahu and Trump, that are leading us to disaster.”

@Pamela1960 Tom Jones recalled that when he was a child in the valleys, Churchill was booed in the cinemas whenever he appeared on the newsreels.

See also gunboats on the Mersey, the disaster of Gallipoli, etc.

WW2 did a lot of heavy lifting to rehabilitate Churchill's very tarnished reputation.

You know we had the War of Jenkin’s Ear in the 18th Century. Do you think that the war with Iran will be known by future historians as the War of Epstein’s Files? #Epstein #epsteinfiles

I understand that the Kennel Club is considering the inclusion of a new breed of dog which is known as the American poodle. It comes in two subtypes, Reform and Conservative depending on how dependent they are on the tangerine tyrant.

Opportunities, perils and pitfalls: how UK parties have responded to war in Iran

Starmer’s ‘purely defensive’ stance has won support among voters, but what challenges lie ahead for each party when it comes to their base’s view of war?

Every month the United States provides even more reason to boycott its products and companies — the strikes on Iran being just the latest.

In light of that, it’s a great time to ditch the products and services of US tech companies. I made a comprehensive guide to help you that I’ve been regularly updating for months.
