Xmas came early in the form of a grant 😁

We are looking to fill TWO postdoc positions in chemoenzymatic and/or carbohydrate synthesis, with a focus on developing new glycan-based antimicrobial therapies.

Positions are available from April 1, 2023, and applications must be submitted via the University of Basel job portal:

UniversitΓ€t Basel: Postdoctoral Positions in Carbohydrate Chemoenzymatic & Chemical Synthesis

The Molecular Pharmacy group at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is focused on early stages of drug discovery, including target identification and validation, the design, screening, characterization and optimization of molecules with drug-like properties, and the development of novel therapeutic concepts. The group follows a highly integrated and multidisciplinary approach, including drug design, compound synthesis and characterization, protein engineering, target preparation, assay development, and interaction analyses.

πŸ“œ Our latest collaboration out in @embojournal!

In efforts led by Dr Ben Wang and Dr Julie Takagi, we identify Core 2 glycans as inhibitors of toxigenic conversion by a virulence-encoding phage in Vibrio cholerae.

So exciting to see our #GlycoTime research 🧐 featured in a post by Dr. Matthew D Vandermeulen from the University at Buffalo in his blog "Science with a funguy" (LOVE the name πŸ˜‚)

I may be biased, but definitely think it's worth checking out! πŸ™πŸ½

A big thanks to Prof. Daniel VarΓ³n Silva for stopping by the University of Basel this week to present his exciting research on the synthesis of protozoal GPIs 🦠 and the role of these glycolipids in infection & immunity! πŸ™πŸ½ #GlycoTime

Big thanks to both of our EGC #GlycoTime speakers this afternoon!

- Rebecca Miller (University of Copenhagen) with fascinating insights into GAG biosynthesis & structure-activity relationships

- Daniel Bojar (University of Gothenburg) discussing applications of machine learning in glycoanalytics

Recordings available soon via the European Glycoscience Community social media channels 🍿 πŸ€“

Not much beats a weekend away in beautiful #Vals to help reset for a new week 😍😍
