I’m a child of the 80s, a technology enthusiast, former desktop publisher, and an advocate and supporter of libre-licensed, open-source software. I'm also a very happy and satisfied GNU+Linux user and former Classic Mac OS / Mac OS X user.

Originally from the U.S., I am involuntarily living in Trumagapistan and believe we’re all basically fucked. The problem is fundamentally larger than just Trump; right-wing-ism is a cancer in the U.S. and every other country it’s tried or tolerated.

Damn ya’ll. I’ve already blasted off to mars and back this morning when the bf turned the news on.
Today is my food pantry distribution day and it makes me so fucking mad to see seniors with all kinds of mobility issues on top of not being able to afford food have to navigate and interact with charities to score a bite to eat.
I am fired all the way up. Fuck Donald Trump

ATTENTION BLACK VOTERS IN LOUISIANA:

Saturday May 16 (tomorrow) is the election in your state. PLEASE turnout in RECORD NUMBERS!!!

And, also very important: Please vote NO on all five propositions on the ballot in Louisiana.

@lgb My two favorite keyboard layouts (in Linux, naturally!) are U.S. English (Macintosh) and English (International, AltGr Dead Keys). Those work really well for making it quick and fairly painless to add in a wide array of accented characters, symbols like the bullet (•) em dash (—), the essett (ß) and many others.

Oh, and PS, I'm not a graphic artist by any means, but I do use Scribus, as well as GIMP and Inkscape.

Hello everyone! 👋

I created this account because I would like to start a Libre Graphics community in Budapest for people interested in creative tools such as Krita, Blender, Inkscape, darktable, digiKam and other free and open source graphics software.

The goal is to create a relaxed and friendly meetup (“Stammtisch”) where artists, illustrators, photographers, designers, developers, students, Linux users, hobbyists and curious newcomers can meet, exchange ideas, share workflows and projects, discover new tools, and help each other learn.

At the moment, I am planning two meetup dates:
• around the end of September
• and another around early to mid November

The exact dates are still open — I would like to decide them together with people who are interested in the idea.

There may also already be an earlier meetup around the end of June.

Possible locations:
- Kastner Kommunity
- Kelet Kávézó és Galéria

Suggestions are welcome!

If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to follow, comment, boost or message the account.
Let’s build a Libre Graphics community in Budapest together 🎨🐧

@sundogplanets And as a note for my note...

At any other point in the U.S.'s history, my initial comment would be 100%, turn-it-up-to-11 hyperbole. Unfortunately, our present Presidential Administration can't be trusted to actually *not* do what I said above.

@sundogplanets And just in case my prior post didn't make it obvious enough...

#SARCASM

@sundogplanets Well, since the U.S. is the only country on Earth which matters, and all other countries exist in one capacity or another to do our bidding or be our source for minerals or other materials, and we don't believe in science and prefer good, solid, America-first Evangelical Christianity, who cares if people can see stars or not. We will put up more stars... we'll have the most and best stars, and if any other country complains, we'll just nuke them into a glass parking lot.

@spocko @emptywheel If they don't post on Mastodon, I won't see it.

And honestly, the only reasons I'm staying on Mastodon are that it's not a commercial platform, it's not a closed source/proprietary license platform, and at the end of the day I need some way to try and take in, more broadly than any news site, what all is going on in the U.S. and around the world.

@mem_somerville If you're willfully unvaccinated, don't go around blaming the rest of society for your stupidity.
