I'm reading the overwhelmingly great and appropriately scary *New York 2140* by Kim Stanley Robinson. 1st, I think this is now my go-to text for teaching IPE/GPE. 2nd, I think being tagged in an amazing work of speculative fiction is now a life goal.

Asylum is legal immigration.
There's no "port of entry" requirement.
There's no "visa" requirement.
There's no "first country" requirement.
You enter the United States, and you apply for asylum.
Because asylum is legal immigration. Period.

Period.
