Medical advances are made in surgeries and Universities, not by billionaires. Academic research paid for by taxes and wages and charities make advances, design treatments, invent vaccines and drugs, then billionaires are given the reasearch to charge enough to kill people, to restrict who gets care, to make a billion off your taxes and charitable gifts.

The streets are PACKED with people celebrating. A robotaxi muscles its way through, carrying no passenger.
So it's an empty robot car, taking up the space of a dozen people standing, barging through the crowd which is crowded.
And police are scratching their heads about how the car ended up torched.

BINARY THINKING
I understand the hype is exhausting.
But this thing where someone plugs their ears and repeats reductive catechisms about AI is just as silly. The common trope lately is comparing it to Eliza.
The truth is somewhere in between, unevenly distributed across use cases.
Still, when this stuff works well it works well in life-changing ways.
Threads is looking better and better. What I wanted from social media was:
* self-promotion from celebrities and rich people
* no control over my timeline
* strict prohibition of any sexual content
* nothing from europe
* no alt-text
* data harvesting to empower genocides
