@amandalhu
Wow so let’s recap:
- PCR to enter with an access wristband tied to - result
- HEPA air cleaners in every room
- Possibly amped up ventilation
- Masks at some events
Aka exactly what we have proposed for schools/conferences/workplaces. Because COVID is not over!"

@luckytran
Here's an extensive list of all the COVID protection measures the World Economic Forum is taking. It includes access dependent on PCR testing, masking, HEPA filtration, ventilation, UV:

A study found what many expected: Omicron had a significant influence on the effectiveness of #COVID19 rapid antigen test (RAT) performance. “The sensitivity for samples with a CT-value >25 was 0.108 (0.048–0.227). Rapid antigen tests show impaired performance for COVID-19 diagnosis when the Omicron variant is circulating, particularly in samples with low viral loads.”

I wish high risks folks were considered. There are far more of us than you know.

Disney employees fight mandate to work at offices four days a week

More than 2,300 employees signed the petition asking CEO Bob Iger to reconsider the mandate, which ranks among the strictest for big companies in the post-pandemic era, arguing that it is “likely to have unintended consequences that cause long-term harm to the company.”

Our RenderMan colleagues recently shared this lovely preview of #MaterialX and #USD support in an upcoming version of their renderer, and I thought I'd share it here as well.

You may recognize the Open Chess Set in the foreground, and the background environment is the Pixar campus.

#SFBayArea #ChamberMusic peeps! Johanna and I are playing the Franck #Violin sonata next Sunday, Feb 5th 3pm, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Pleasant Hill. This is a monster piece for the pianist (me). Late Beethoven string quartet also on the program! Should be a great program with not commonly performed music. Proceeds to benefit Hope Solutions
Interfaith Housing.

Okay #makers #nerds #radiologists… this article states that any dc motor can be harmed by X-ray. But the nerd in me wants to know how/why? https://medicalxpress.com/news/2012-11-airport-x-rays-diabetes-devices.amp

Skepticism says it’s about CYA legally… no matter how rare, is it possible to damage a dc motor with X-ray and if so how? Heat? Ions?

Airport security X-rays may damage diabetes devices

(HealthDay)—Full body X-ray scanners and luggage X-rays may damage some insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors, both used by many people with diabetes to manage their conditions.

People ask why I post so often about #COVID19 considering most people are convinced it's a mild disease and no big deal any longer. I can answer with three links:

Vaccine protection fades in 6 months, and almost all nations have seen fewer than 20 doses per 100 people in the past six months: https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations
