@scottnicholson the series is off to a great start.

Odd Q - what do you think of the game theory interpretation that true co-op teamwork isn’t represented in these games (I.e. “pandemic is a solo puzzle”; Dune is maybe closer to their idea of co-op) and that’s why communication limiters (no talking) are cropping up to impose/simulate co-operation?

I’m not advocating for this POV, just genuinely curious. We hadn’t talked about game theory ever before. Do you use it in the classroom at all?

It’s been a really rough week with work, my cousin’s death, and all the day-to-day nonsense, but then I see a post like this and I am moved to tears by what can be made possible…
@Georgios @gpage sounds exactly like the final encounter in FFG’s Star Wars Imperial Assault
@BeardedRogue condolences, tony. You’ve honored her well here. She sounds like a fantastic cousin
@gpage yes, but would you be happy? Personally I am too much of an artist to both run a business well and be happy at the end of the day
I imagine a wealthy, boardgame-loving entrepreneur should start a games distribution business roughly 3-6 months ago.
@gpage my first reaction is a preference for ‘expressiveness’ that overlaps with your stated goal. T&E is the first that comes to mind. Wide open play space with competing goals, so the ‘guiding’ is not on rails and grows by the players’ interaction. I haven’t played any of the big board games that ape Videogame sandboxes. It’s funny too bc my fav sandbox (BotW) is much less guided, whereas the rest of the genre is SUPER guided
@sirideain thanks, Charlie! *dad fist bump*
I may not be a great parent 24/7, but I managed to keep the big OoT Zelda twist secret from my 8yo. Tonight I’m pretty cool for a hot minute.
