I would love to know what exactly went wrong during the development of Descent Legends of the Dark.

Because I can't believe that a game that is as inventive, engaging and plain fun would end with such a turd of a final chapter and epilogue because everything went smoothly during production.

Love the game. Easily one of the greatest dungeon crawlers since HeroQuest. But that ending... whoof... what a stinker!

@Georgios this is an example of why I playtested games for a few years. I played a game once and said "wood, I do not understand how this made it through development..."

Be the change you want to see. :-D

@gpage I can imagine this being the very last chapter of the very last mission, that it may have been rushed into production.

But a simple app update could have solved things. As it stands, it's an awful, aimless grind of a challenge unless you a) know what awaits and b) optimized your character builds to deal with the level.

It's everything I hated about Gloomhaven rolled into the final mission.

The epilogue is just fundamentally misguided. Downbeat, hopeless and just dour.

@Georgios @gpage sounds exactly like the final encounter in FFG’s Star Wars Imperial Assault
@PhilGross @gpage I've heard good things about the game, but nothing about its ending. That might suggest that Descent was following IA's template very literally. How disappointing.
