@scripty Thanks! If you give it a go, tell me what feels off or missing for what you make. That's the feedback I'm actually chasing right now.

HideSync has a proper home now: r/HideSync.

If you use it, or you're just curious, that's where the updates, the bug-reports megathread, an FAQ, and commons chat live. It's the place to ask questions or tell me what's broken.

Still free, still local-first, still any-craft. Windows + Linux.

@fullywoolly I hope you like what you see. The hashing guarantees proper lineage, which makes sure you can always trace what you did and where it came from, like a replay feature.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Honest fine print, because this crowd deserves it up front:

– The app itself is not open source (today). The data format is open, the export is complete, and the public commons is CC-BY: https://github.com/Skund404/proto-commons, usable and contributable with or without the app.
– No macOS, sorry. There's a companion mode that serves the app to other devices over your LAN.

Genuine question: what would stop you from using something like this?

GitHub - Skund404/proto-commons: Public commons of leatherworking primitives, content-addressed OPG-L records. Pre-Foundation working commons by Rillmark.

I spent 10 years leatherworking with no good answer to "how did I make that, two years ago?" So I built HideSync: a free workshop journal for makers, projects, materials, techniques, work sessions.

Local-first, properly: no account, no cloud, no telemetry. Your data stays on your machine, complete export, open format.

Windows + Linux. https://rillmark.org

Rillmark — A new way to think about physical practice

An open standard for acts with typed accountability. Two layers: OPG-L (the standard) and OPG-L Nodes (the implementations).

Hi, I'm Pascal 👋 #introduction

Leatherworker for ~10 years. I kept losing my own answers to "what did I do for that seam last year?" so I built myself a workshop journal, and it grew into something I now give away free for any craft.

Here for the maker/local-first crowd. Happy to talk leather, crafts, documentation habits, or why your glaze recipes deserve version control.
