I like to think I'm a student of life. I spend my time learning more about electronics and home automation. Also math, python, LaTeX, dataviz, bicycling, photography, cooking, mycology, and volunteering. #nobot

Hell to the yes....NYT reports that a political activist and a Vietnam veteran represented by an anti-corruption organization filed a lawsuit on Saturday challenging what it called the “night of cage fights” that President Trump planned to hold at the White House as part of the celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary.

The lawsuit alleges the significant transformation of the White House grounds to fit the monstrous UFC fight ring on the South Lawn was never authorized by Congress, but more importantly the POTUS will personally profit from this spectacle (shocker, I know):

"It cites reporting that U.F.C. was selling premium tickets to the event for more than $1 million, and the fees that Paramount Skydance, the media company owned by two other executives with ties to the president, Larry and David Ellison, will collect for streaming the event. The suit also notes that Mr. Trump purchased between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of stock in TKO Holding Group, the parent company of U.F.C., in March — while he was in the process of promoting the event."

Here’s an easter egg in the new Lego Batman that I think all of yourwill REALLY appreciate.

It’s so good, I had to make a video.

It occurs to me that Muppets are the anti-AI.

AI personas look real, but have no soul. And, despite being made of complex technology, they generate uncanny valley reactions, when they’re visual and not just chatbots.

Whereas Muppets look fake, but they have all the soul. They’re made of simple materials, animated just by human hands, and are immediately attractive. They’re people you want to know, despite never forgetting they’re artifice.

Sen. Cantwell Leads With New Consumer Data Privacy Bill

There is a lot to like about U.S. Sen. Cantwell’s new Consumer Online Privacy Rights Act (COPRA). It is an important step towards the comprehensive consumer data privacy legislation that we need to protect us from corporations that place their profits ahead of our privacy. The bill, introduced on...

@Gargron have you heard of SQRL yet? Elliptic key based authentication instead of using username and password. One user's master key makes a unique public key for each domain. Looks cool!

@ajroach42 @Shamar @ciaby @pnathan @Wolf480pl Actually I think the way you get educated people is by having a culture that values learning. American culture does not, and that's why we have a shitty educational system. I don't see how you can fix the educational system without shifting the culture.
