Near the end of a 1/2 mile climb on my bicycle commute home from the city I gingerly greet and pass a "well-seasoned" rider. As he joins me at the top of the hill where we wait briefly for a traffic signal he quips, "I was going to grumble something about youth being wasted on the young as you passed me, but you're almost as grey as I am."

Course Newsletter

This is an example of a complex email newsletter. It uses the email header and footer templates. It pulls various types of posts and presentations from the database, using 'email' views to style them. The publication date is today. This is a page that is autopublished and people can subscribe to it. Cron can be used to send it by email each day.

i wish when you bought a guitar it came with a picture of the tree the body was made from and a description of where the tree grew, maybe it was near a road or overlooked a hill or a cliff, maybe a lake or a river, maybe also some details about all the birds that lived in it, or small mammals or lizards, was the tree easily climbable by a person? maybe it’d have that kinda info, that’d be good, might pay a couple bucks extra for that

The thing I did, that made mastodon homely for me, was to start by curating a home timeline of people I wanted to follow. That turned out to be more diverse than Twitter: @dadegroot posts about blacksmithing and @RussSharek is a clown and @paralithode is an artist and writer, and my world got bigger.

When people followed me back then I had a little community of back-and-forth at a scale that was comfortable for me.

I'm a futurist specializing in education and technology.

I've been using all kinds of social software for decades, and really want to get Mastodon working this time.
