I probably have more questions but those are many two think about a lot, and all I can think of at... 11pm-

Okay so I got a few questions about Peertube that has been on my mind for a while now. If they sound dumb I'll admit my own inexperience here...

1. How sustainable would it be to self host a peertube instance with the the scale of even a single modest content creator output? (1vid/week lets say)

2. Do peertube instances (Or even the Devs) see a benefit in instances that are really only act as CDN type deal. Where the instance Server more as a regional cache for other instances?

#Peertube

@naynay Oh oh and also that if you just want to follow people without logging into an account has an RSS atom feed. https://<MastodonInstance>/users/<UserName>.rss or .atom

Might be situational but I think it's neat.

Also since you're on the ActivityPub protocol you can follow peer tube and pixelfed accounts too So long as you have the url.

@naynay Well I recently learned you can Follow Hastags. Can kind of have a similar feel to the AlGoRiThM Timeline just obviously less intrusive as you have to manually add it.

Might be important to bring up that you can always join/hop instances later on even after making an account via importing and exporting the account.

The Year Of The Linux Desktop would have actually happened if Elon Musk had bought Microsoft in 2007.

@lirontocker That's what I did my first time joining the fediverse in 2018 (old account I don't use anymore). I did drop off it as most of my friends were on twitter, but now I'm back since twitter may not exist.

I ended up going for slightly smaller instance this time around because I now knew I could be practically anywhere and it would be fine.

So you're just getting started in Mastodon huh?

Here's a neat thing. On the web interface you can search for a Hashtag.

Same as you can on Twitter.

Something like #Ukraine, for example

But on the search results, see that little user icon on the right? Click it and you'll follow it as if it's a user!

New posts with that tag will arrive in your home page, even if you don't follow the author yet

When I recognize somebody from Twitter who just joined Mastodon…
😅 😂

Someone also asked if Mastodon posts actually show up in Pixelfed.

Yes, as you can see from the highlight, this post originated from Mastodon. If your Mastodon post has a photo in it, it appears native to Pixelfed.

Does it work the other way too?

Yes, everything I post from Pixelfed will appear in your feed as a native Mastodon post.

This is the magic of the Fediverse.
