"I thought of happiness, how it is woven / Out of the silence in the empty house each day / And how it is not sudden and it is not given / But is creation itself like the growth of a tree. / No one has seen it happen, but inside the bark / Another circle is growing in the expanding ring. / No one has heard the root go deeper in the dark, / But the tree is lifted by this inward work / And its plumes shine, and its leaves are glittering."

Friday afternoon. I took my bike and camera and went to the forest. Sitting there and waiting for the sun to go down was so relaxing and calming.

Good morning. 🍂🍃🌿
13 August 2023
I stayed up late reading last night. I try to stop at the end of a chapter, but often the end of a chapter leaves me wanting to find out what happens next, so I'll read another chapter. Late for me means after 10 PM, last night wound up around midnight. I like my mornings. Not to worry though, my buddies, Ben and Charlie, were at the bedroom door before 6 AM.
After my morning ritual, I laid back in my recliner to sleep. Charlie, vigilant as ever, made sure that I was up again before 7:30, to fix them breakfast. I've written about this before, I'm amazed at how accurately they track time. I think Charlie might be getting help from our grandfather clock, it starts counting of the hour at 7 AM.
I don't tire of writing about the dogs, they're comical.
