I assume it’s okay on here to go through and “like” and “retoot” (?) things like we did on Twitter? I’ve been clicking the like button on stuff people share (pictures and the like) but noticed that nobody else seems to be doing that. I’m just making sure I’m not committing some Mastodon faux pas.
Elon being Elon is familiar -- so familiar that it's no longer even particularly grotesque. But Elon fans tying themselves in knots trying to explain how WELL ACTUALLY all of this is PERFECTLY CONSISTENT with free speech absolutism he promised . . . . well, that's showing some new lows in groveling and abasement.

I explained to the world (ok, to a journalist) that Elon can ban whatever he wants on Twitter, but he's in for a bad and stupid time if he thinks he can sue a kid for posting publicly available flight data.

Have you ever wondered who actually benefits from the protection of religious and anti-religious expression by the U.S. Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights? Then have I got a paper (with Mastodon-less Tom Keck and Claire Sigsworth) just for you!

In the paper (at the Journal of Law and Courts), we investigate that very question using new data from the Global Free Speech Repository.

Give it a read and let us know what you think! 😃
