🇺🇸 Actually, Nanette Tamer. I’m new here. I’m closely following and supporting Ukraine, but I’m also interested in languages and cultures from around the world. My research has focused on the social contexts of Early American literature, including the literatures of Ancient Greece and Rome. As part of a small English Department, I’ve taught any element of those, including introductory linguistics.

For people with disabilities, the changes and possible demise of twitter come at a huge personal, social, medical, and financial cost. As a migraineur, I have some understanding of how much is lost in terms of information sharing.

@ct_bergstrom @histoftech As noted elsewhere, there is the enormous problem of Twitter’s reliance on Red Hat’s Linux that will be retiring, with the new version dependent on Twitter’s now slashed in-house IT team. (Please excuse my ignorance if I haven’t expressed that well. I’m only tangentially in IT!)

@insights I really appreciate the way you put your posts behind shades. It makes viewing a list of posts so much easier on my eyes. Twitter format conventions make scrolling easy, but Mastodon was looking like a wall of text! Also, I’ll add my list to the list of fellas to share, but first I’m going to delete this account and make new one on an academic instance to be findable. I’ll let you know my new address.
