So apparently Thomas Edison electrocuted an elephant named Topsy at a theme park. Just for, you know, the giggles or whatever. I like to think that afterwards he tried to electrocute Topher, Topsy's partner, as an encore. Except it didn't work, and now Topher has superpowers and is PISSED.
