As a literature teacher, if I had an Euro for every time I heard "what is the use of it" I'd be a millionaire (but, like the late Frusciante said, I just want to be honest with myself and have honest people around me). I think the concept of usefulness is overrated. Yes, latins said that what is beautiful must be useful and what is useful must be beautiful. However imho it is you that find the usefulness: when you find exactly what you are feeling now in a decades old book.

For years a friend tried to convince me to start painting miniatures. I always said no: I am not a great artist, I don't have a great steady hand, I didn't felt able to do such a thing. He kept asking; he was sure I would end up liking it.
Then, three years ago something broke in my life and I needed something new, so I started painting.
Now when I paint I'm in a bubble: nothing else exists, it's just me living the present.
