Featured Park: Disneyland (Anaheim, USA)

When people think of Disney, many people seem to think of Florida. Personally, I prefer the original park in Anaheim.

Despite the smaller scale than subsequent parks, Disneyland has a lot of character. It packs so many world class of rides into a comparatively small space, many of which are as good as, or better than their counterparts on the east coast.

One thing to be aware of when visiting European theme parks is that some of the independent parks and smaller chains often enter into partnerships when it comes to annual passes.

It's worth checking out the benefits that come with a pass, as sometimes they can save you a small fortune if you're doing a big trip.

Take a look at the discounts included with a Plopsa annual pass, for example:

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.

For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).

"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.

There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.

It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.

Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.

If I am prompted to set up an acct, even a 'free' acct to read an article, I'll pass. My patience is too thin & my free time-too limiting. I have way too many books @ my fingertips that don't require me to 'sign-in' to read. It's all becoming a bit much. #read #books #life #thoughts @bookstodon

I saw a fantastic post the other day, summarising the problems with ChatGPT and similar "AI" systems. In short:

They do not provide an answer to the question that you ask. They respond with "what could an answer to that question potentially look like?"

That's not the same thing, yet most people will probably assume that they're getting an answer to their actual question.

I just wish the screenshot of the original post had the author included, so I could attribute it properly.

Featured Park: Kolmården Wildlife Park (Kolmården, Sweden)

Kolmården is an enormous Zoo, located on a hill next to a sea inlet of the Baltic.

Coaster fanatics visit to ride Wildfire, the RMC wooden coaster, and for the extra "creds". They stay for the animal exhibits, as the zoo is absolutely amazing.

The animals here loads of space, and around half the zoo is viewed from above via. gondola.

It's professional incompetence to represent clients on tech issues if you don't understand the tech at hand. It's even worse to make policy decisions or craft new laws regulating tech without understanding the technical (and social!) dimensions of what you're trying to regulate.
