Featured Park: Tripsdrill (Cleebronn, Germany)

A family park, with a rural vineyard theme. Karacho and Hals-über-Kopf are the flagship coasters here, so nothing too extreme, but the park is delightfully quirky.

Rapids themed to washtubs. Rides themed as weird backyard inventions. Waltzers themed as giant pies. A coaster train design with a goat clinging to the back. It shouldn't work, but it does.

I've been making a series of #FeaturedThemePark posts, both to bring attention to some of the brilliant places I've visited over the years, and also as an excuse to post some of my theme park and ride photographs.

As my older posts were left behind on mastodon.social, and not all of them will have federated to everyone's server, you can use the link below to see all of them on the original server:

Here's a few pictures from parks I've featured in the past:

Featured Park: Walibi Belgium (Wavre, Belgium)

Once a Six Flags park, Walibi Belgium has gradually been developing its own, more laid back identity.

Kondaa, the big Intamin mega coaster, is definitely the highlight here, but the park also features some unusual and entertaining shuttle coasters in the form of Pulsar and Psyké Underground, as well as plenty of solid supporting attractions.

Featured Park: Disneyland (Anaheim, USA)

When people think of Disney, many people seem to think of Florida. Personally, I prefer the original park in Anaheim.

Despite the smaller scale than subsequent parks, Disneyland has a lot of character. It packs so many world class of rides into a comparatively small space, many of which are as good as, or better than their counterparts on the east coast.

Featured Park: Kolmården Wildlife Park (Kolmården, Sweden)

Kolmården is an enormous Zoo, located on a hill next to a sea inlet of the Baltic.

Coaster fanatics visit to ride Wildfire, the RMC wooden coaster, and for the extra "creds". They stay for the animal exhibits, as the zoo is absolutely amazing.

The animals here loads of space, and around half the zoo is viewed from above via. gondola.

Featured Park: Toverland (Sevenum, Netherlands)

Once an indoor park for young families, modern Toverland has grown enormously, and caters for all ages.

There's Troy, one of the best wooden coasters in Europe, Fenix, an absolutely beautiful wing coaster, and plenty of other quirky rides and attractions. The rides and areas are all beautifully presented, down to the colours of the electrical sockets.

Featured Park: Phantasialand (Bruhl, Germany)

It's compact. It's immaculately themed. It's crammed full of incredible rides. It's also family owned.

Phantasialand is easily one of my favourite parks in the world right now. Taron is the flagship coaster, but nearly everything is worth a ride, water, dark rides, and mystery castle especially.

Seriously, spend two days here and ride everything.

Featured Park: Plopsaland De Panne (De Panne, Belgium)

Plopsaland is a beautifully themed, family friendly park. Most rides are based around children's TV shows produced by parent company Studio 100.

Many rides are fun, but the extreme spinning coaster, Ride to Happiness, is a game changer. It's a unique ride experience, and IMO is one of the best rollercoasters in the world right now.

As I've been posting about a few of the theme parks that I enjoy under the #FeaturedThemePark hashtag, it occurs to me that there are thousands of other rollercoasters and parks that most people have never heard of.

You may wonder how enthusiasts go about finding these places. Word of mouth is one way, but there are some great tools for this. Here's a short thread, if you're looking for some places to visit.

Featured Park: Efteling (Tilburg, Netherlands)

Efteling is a place of fairy tales, of the Brothers Grimm variety. It's a place of wonder, magic, ghost stories, cursed bandits, the Flying Dutchman, amazing pancakes, and talking bins.

There's a decent coaster line-up, but the park's true value is in the quirky side attractions, and top tier dark rides, including the trackless flagship, Symbolica.
