The number is (or is near enough) 0.425785 and I just don't know why.
My initial idea was just to take the bounding box output, but nope.
The 'downside' to WYSIWYG editors is that a smoothbrain artist such as myself will just kludge numbers. I'm trying to get this lovely bend group to center around the origin, and when it wouldn't work i just adjusted the numbers until it did... Now who can tell me why

Thanks for all of the help with my question about intersecting faces, especially @flipsideza who ended up making a #geometrynodes setup that works great! Here's the end result, hope it helps someone else:

Did a bunch of rework on DreamUV to make it able to handle cylindrical/ring shaped topologies without you having to preassign seams. It will create a seam for you at a random spot which can give you some nice variation. This was much needed for future trim tools I'm working on as well! #blender

Anyone know of a way to select intersecting faces in Blender? I'm trying to optimise my uh, optimisation pass for LODS and it'd really save me a lot of time.
