Just for context; the evidence on trickle down economics after a three decades real world experiment is that lowering taxes for high earners doesn’t work, but giving more money to low income families does work: largely because poorer people spend money on local services and products: food, housing, etc
This summed up my thoughts in a pithy format.
It seems wrong to reference that people were making $30k a year and supporting a family of four in 1980 without mentioning the pensions. Not 401ks. Not IRAs. Pensions. Real money the company would put into an account for you that would be tied to and grow with the company’s profits, not with the mood of the economy. Almost like they don’t want us to remember watching our family play the lottery of “are they going to fire me before I retire so they can keep the pension.”

Remember: The real freeloaders in this country are the rich, not the poor.

The richest 1% evade $163 billion in taxes every year.

The United States literally has a yacht tax deduction.

Hello?

Back in 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise.

His solution: Fewer government subsidies for fossil fuels and use of renewable energy.

I was in Minnesota last week and enjoyed wandering the trails around Minnehaha Falls. I highly recommend a visit. Just make sure you have a map app on your phone. Their trails have no signs and it’s easy to get turned around. But the trails were on Apple’s map app, thankfully.
I’m just beginning to play with #watercolor. I’m so thrilled with the videos on YouTube that allow me to roll up my sleeves, okay with color, and come away with a fairly good result.

The people are the source of power. We have to fight the conservative ideology in people that it is okay to "other" minorities to consolidate power. Blaming the reps who have made some progress is not helpful. We have to be a coalition that supports any minority against hate, because hate & indifference is the enemy we are all fighting even when it is not our turn to suffer.

Concepts like "the law applies to everyone equally" show that we are winning the long fight.
