I want to talk a little about the study showing that the wealthiest kids are much more likely to get into the Ivy-plus colleges than other students with similar grades and test scores.
Short: legacy admissions, sports (like rowing or fencing, not like basketball or football), and non-academic things (recommendations, extracurriculars) provided by expensive private high schools all contribute.
This is not a surprise.
Turns out that Adobe is collecting all of its customers' pictures into a machine learning training set.
This is opt-out, not opt-in so if you use Lightroom, for example, it defaults to adding all of your photos to the set.
If these are unpublished pictures, work-in-progress, etc. they'll still be analysed as soon as they're synced.
I've been using Lightroom to sync photos from my Windows desktop to my iPad. Now I need to reconsider that.
Did you know that you can find rock arches outside of the Colorado Plateau in the USA?
There are about a dozen natural arches in Arkansas, although some of them are on private land. I've had the chance to visit 3 of them that are close to where we live.
