@rbreich I doubt the money will leave but I do think radical transparency is possible. That is I think it will be easier to enforce the audit and accountability laws on the books. But work is needed to rid the law enforcement functions of the corrupt.
@SwiftOnSecurity The US military is supposed to know better.

The best description I've ever heard of AI is the following. I heard this in the 80s, and it has held up since:

AI is magic.

1: You see a magic trick. You are amazed by the magic.

2: You are shown how the trick works. You are impressed by the technique.

3: You learn how to perform the trick. Now it's not magic, it's sleight-of-hand, or mirrors, or misdirection.

This is why "AI" is always bullshit: once you understand it, it's not AI any more, it's something else.

legit cannot believe I have to keep saying this:

if bigotry isn’t a dealbreaker for you…

you’re tolerating bigotry and are part of the problem

Right-wing extremists committed every ideologically driven mass killing identified in the U.S. in 2022, with an "unusually high" proportion perpetrated by white supremacists. https://www.axios.com/2023/02/23/mass-killings-extremism-adl-report-2022

All U.S. extremist mass killings in 2022 linked to far right, report says

"It is not an exaggeration to say that we live in an age of extremist mass killings," the report notes.

@rbreich I commented in another thread Biden lied about the War in Iraq. Biden refuses to deal with corporate malfeasance (fossil fuel industry, opioid crisis, manufactured food shortages, and on and on) He also is soft on the MAGA/cultists because he still thinks working with fascists is a good idea.
@emilymbender Bad actors will use the tools. But good people will also use the tools. A good implementation of an AI as information assistant is the obvious application. Think the Star Trek Computer. There is a mountain of information on the net. Computers looking up that information is a good thing for everybody.
@SwiftOnSecurity @shanselman Maybe but the odds are against satan being on the other end.
@rbreich @inequalitymedia Because the investor class demands it.
@JoDS @JubalBarca Yes many sources can agree and be wrong. But depending on a single source is even riskier
