Sometimes I write things (link below).

So. I wrote a poem.
It's a bit angry, because, well, the patriarchy.

It may have been more than a little bit inspired by @brianbilston and the style of some of his pieces.

I am kind of hoping that's not cheating/plagiarism/a dick move. I have no idea what I'm doing because I've never really written a poem before..

It's called "My Womb's Gone Wonky"

Happy new year by the way... We can say that, right?!

You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.

RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!

Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.

This past month we published how we found them.

@OneArmedFreddy lolz my unlisted team, which is called "Ferrari engine stable" has 230 points...

@thehappyLMT Yes to this! I also cannot engage with yoga classes - haven't done one for years. At home yoga/yoga on one's own terms is simply amazing 👌💪

@Footle Hi Dave 👋 I am also introverted and a fan of F1, wine, gin and pretty men 👌 And Sci-Fi and fantasy, although to a lesser extent (partially due to lack of opportunity as I'm also a mother of twin toddlers).

Married to a tech nerd/SW architect type person so more arms length on that one 😂

Lovely to meet you!

Lxx

Enough.

Also I feel like this is a great time to remind myself and tell others that when I was younger I had a MASSIVE crush on #GaryLineker, and I wrote a letter to him telling him this and asking for a signed photo. He replied, personally (well, it sounded personal, which is basically the same thing when you're 13), with said signed photo. I'm certain I still have it somewhere.

What a dude.

Humouring 13 year old me's schoolgirl crush and then bringing down the govt I despise 27 years later.

Dude.

Did anyone have #GaryLineker down as the catalyst for the downfall of the government?

Gotta be honest, my money was on Vorders.

Seriously, though, the thing I'm optimistic about is that he is a high profile, popular footballist, with a platform that speaks to people whose values align with Br*verman et al.

(Plenty whose don't of course, but I think the Venn diagram overlap is substantial.)

Moments like this are genuinely when big changes can happen.

Here's hoping.

@HazelWood Also the article seems to say that the difference is the location of the fascism - that when it's 'outside' the political system enforcing its ways, it is fascism, and when people do fascist things from within a democracy, it's not.

That was my reading of that bit anyway.

And I disagree that Hitler was outside anything - it was a long old slog for him to get where he was and he got there by convincing the electorate of his ideals and being democratically elected.

@HazelWood Oh I have read it, it's definitely a well put together article. But my point is agreeing with ZZ in saying that trying to separate pre-nazi Germany from what's happening now is itself a distraction. It's all fascism, it's not a different thing just because it's developed and looks a bit different. It's all based on people being evil at their core, and I don't think it's exaggerating to say that the Br*vermans of this world are inherently evil.
