Sometimes I write things (link below).

So. I wrote a poem.
It's a bit angry, because, well, the patriarchy.

It may have been more than a little bit inspired by @brianbilston and the style of some of his pieces.

I am kind of hoping that's not cheating/plagiarism/a dick move. I have no idea what I'm doing because I've never really written a poem before..

It's called "My Womb's Gone Wonky"

Happy new year by the way... We can say that, right?!

You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.

RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!

Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.

This past month we published how we found them.

Enough.

Also I feel like this is a great time to remind myself and tell others that when I was younger I had a MASSIVE crush on #GaryLineker, and I wrote a letter to him telling him this and asking for a signed photo. He replied, personally (well, it sounded personal, which is basically the same thing when you're 13), with said signed photo. I'm certain I still have it somewhere.

What a dude.

Humouring 13 year old me's schoolgirl crush and then bringing down the govt I despise 27 years later.

Dude.

Did anyone have #GaryLineker down as the catalyst for the downfall of the government?

Gotta be honest, my money was on Vorders.

Seriously, though, the thing I'm optimistic about is that he is a high profile, popular footballist, with a platform that speaks to people whose values align with Br*verman et al.

(Plenty whose don't of course, but I think the Venn diagram overlap is substantial.)

Moments like this are genuinely when big changes can happen.

Here's hoping.

I just don't know what the answer is - everybody seems increasingly entrenched in their views and their reactions to those whose views differ.

I guess there's always a period of adjustment when society navigates a moral panic but it's just so very tiring.

Also, @wbuxtonofficial - could we persuade you to crosspost so that the BirdSite refugees can still access your #F1 loveliness?!

As often happens, I popped into BirdSite because @wbuxtonofficial had tweeted a thing - but immediately found myself in a rabbit hole about a school who refuses to teach children sex education in case it encourages them to have sex. If it's not that, it's horrendous GC/transphobic bile, or people saying Andrew T*te isn't actually that bad, or people ripping chunks out of other people's parenting decisions.

Nope, I'm done.

Account and app finally deleted.

This is an incredible read.

Makes you wonder whether our (UK) rail network would even come close to this in similar circumstances...

‘Rail Force One’: how Ukraine railways got Joe Biden safely to Kyiv

Alexander Kamyshin, head of the service, doesn’t get much sleep, but his team coordinated the president’s visit without a single leak

As a sheep farmer's daughter and Sondheim devotee, today's poem by @brianbilston (from Days Like These) really hit the spot.

(I want to explain, but more than that I really want you to buy the book and find out for yourself)
